Andrew Hill cruised to his fourth consecutive KZN Expedition title when he won the annual mountain-bike race around the Inanda Dam.

After re-stamping his seal on the Kia-sponsored event, presented by OUTSurance, the Kwa-Zulu-Natal rider confirmed what everyone had witnessed: "The race was a great one for me."

After riding with the front group for the first 6 km, Hill picked up the pace on a steep climb and pulled away from the field to open a sizable gap.

Event organiser Wynand de Villiers said they were worried after persistent rain in the region had forced a route change, but all turned out well.

"We were lucky enough to have a perfect sunshine race day after 23 consecutive days of rain in the Valley, and the event was a major success for organisers and sponsors alike," De Villiers said.

"The route was spectacular and different. The best part was probably the Shembe Plateau single track which gave us amazing views of the dam and wall below. The new route is outstanding," Hill said

Great ride and well done for the last minute change. Water tables this year were great .Ride was Tough but enjoyed it a lot.The last 6 km should have had some more markings .Last thing you need is to be doubting if you are going the correct way to the end when your digging deep! otherwise an awesome ride if you fit enough !!! Will be back next year (suggestion, keep this route and then add on the bit down to durbs to make it a testing 105)
