Road cycling returns to the KZN south coast with the inaugural Nozulu Durban to Port Shepstone Cycle Challenge.
Riders will follow the R102 from central Durban to Port Shepstone on a stunning undualting route along one of South Africa's most beautiful coastlines.
Full road closure will ensure a spectacular ride.
ROAD CLOSURES
The 124km route offer rolling road closure for the cyclists which means there will be some disruption to the early morning traffic along the R102 between Durban and Port Shepstone. Most roads will be closed more than an hour before the first rider is expected and will then be re-opened after the last rider and sweep vehicles have passed.

FINAL RACE INSTRUCTIONS
Dear Nozulu Challenge rider,
Nozulu Entertainment and Events, as event organisers, and ROAG, as entry-portal partners, look forward to welcoming you to this first-time event on Sunday, December18.
This post contains some important information, so if you are intending on riding on Sunday, please read carefully to the end.
The 124km race will start at 5am.
REGISTRATION:
All entrants are required to register before the event and collect your race number. You can register on Sunday from 3.30am until 5.00am at the foyer of the Playhouse Theatre in Anton Lembede Street (Smith Street). The start will take place very close to the registration venue so you can easily register, collect your race number and attach it to your bike and then get ready to start (there is plenty of space to park your bike while you collect your race number). Please ensure that you register AT LEAST 45 MINUTES prior to the start of your event in order to avoid any last-minute rushes. There are often queues at registration, so please allow plenty of time to complete the registration process. Late entries will be taken at registration, but we ask for all late entries to be registered on the ROAG system so as to ensure the late-entry process is quick and easy.

RACE NUMBERS:
Your race number includes your timing chip which must be attached to the seat post of your bicycle before the start and must remain on the bike throughout the race. Please ensure the cable ties provided go through the number, number holder and around the seat post and are securely fastened. RACE FINISH:
The race will finish at the Maritime Museum near the corner of Princess Elizabeth Drive and Fifth Avenue. These are the GPS co-ordinates to the finish area: 30°44'58.1"S 30°27'07.6"E (-30.749476, 30.452099).
RETURNING RACE NUMBERS:
Race numbers MUST be returned after you complete the race. Volunteers will be available to collect the race numbers at the finish line, but if you do not return your race number you will be charged R75 for the number, embedded chip and number holder. If you withdraw before the finish, please return your number when you tell the officials at the finish that you withdrew, If you cannot return your number please contact ROAG on Monday and organise to return the number.
MEDICAL INFORMATION:
All entrants are asked to update their personal information on the ROAG.org website prior to the event. Should there be an emergency, the first point for first responders to access your medical and emergency information is from your ROAG profile. Please ensure at the very least your medical information and your emergency contact information is up to date and accurate. It could save your life or ensure you are transported to the best medical facility. You can update your information by using your ROAG number and ID number to log into your profile and under My Profile and My Info all your information is available. Please make sure you Save Changes after updating.
TIMING:
The event is timed by FinishTime and results will be available within minutes of crossing the line at results.finishtime.co.za and https://roag.org/events/event-results/3878
ROUTES & WATER TABLES:
Water tables will be present between every 20km to 30km on the route and will stock water and coke. However, it is the responsibility of the rider to ensure you have enough to drink for the event so please make sure you carry enough liquid to last you for the entire race.
CYCLING SA:
The Nozulu Durban to Port Shepstone Cycle Challenge is a Cycling SA sanctioned event and run under CSA and UCI rules.
