Other Information About Event

  • General Information

Rides are organized by uBhejaneX, a non-profit organization.

Funds raised and paid to support rhino conservation and cover participation costs.

For the duration of the ride, participants must provide their own nutrition and hydration.

A backup vehicle will carry your nutrition and hydration. The vehicles will follow the riders throughout the ride. If a rider needs to rest, he can get into one of the vehicles.

It is not a race, but a group ride, with the goal of completing the distance in the prescribed time.

Participants have four distances to choose from to cater to cyclists of all abilities - all routes finish at Hilltop Camp in Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve.

The Long Horn (350km) starts in Hillcrest. (+/- 21 km per hour)

The Short Horn (250km) starts in Ballito. (+/- 18 km per hour)

The Baby Horn (100km) starts in Empangeni.

There is also a three-day event starting in Hillcrest.

The R500 entry fee paid through ROAG will secure your place at the event. Each participant will then have to raise an additional R5000 to cover the remaining costs of participation. The cost is made up of about R2500 for cycling shirts, logistics, and accommodation the night after the ride (for the one-day rides) plus a minimum of R3000 for Rhino conservation. Accommodation on the three-day event will be additional and details will be provided shortly).

Detailed rules for each ride will be shared closer to the event.
