DUSTBUSTER SERIES - EVENT STRUCTURE AND RULES

There will be a 5km and a 10km trail run ONLY available for this (aQuelle Eston Dustbuster) event. Please ensure that you bring a headlight for the 10km as it is COMPULSORY!

RACE INFORMATION AND RULES (SERIES):

 

1. Participants may compete as two-man teams or individuals.

2. Helmet and own bike are compulsory for the ride.

3. Crop tops / T-shirts are compulsory for the run.

4. Minimum age for individual full distance is 12 years unless accompanied by parent.

5. Organisers reserve the right to not award prizes in a category if there are fewer than 5 entries in that category. Participants entering this category will be placed one age group higher until there are sufficient entries (minimum 5 in a category).

6. The idea of the event is to have fun - cheating is not permitted and will result in disqualification.

7. If you leave the course at any point you must re-join the course where you left or else you are considered to have taken a short cut.

8. Please put your helmet on before you remove your bike from the transition.

9. All cyclists must wear a fastened helmet

10. No cycling in the transition area.

11. Athletes need to be marked according to race requirements

12. Athletes must obey marshals and race officials

13. No spectators are permitted into the transition area.

14. The Dustbuster Series has a NO REFUND policy in the event of a race/s being cancelled in part or in whole for whatever reason

 

Dustmites

1. An event for children in various age groups ranging from pre-school to under-12.

2. Helmets are to be worn for the entire event.

3. These younger competitors can also participate in the Dustbuster events - accompanied all the way by a parent, but not assisted.

4. Dustmites is specifically for children. The Dustmites event, comprises a short, cycle, obstacle course and a run.

5. No prizes are given for the Dustmites events.

 

RACE RULES FOR AQUELLÉ EPWORTH DUSTBUSTER:

 

• The race consists of a 5 km and 10 km walk or run which begins and ends at Epworth School
• Entries are limited to 1500 participants for DustBuster and 400 for DustMites.
• You can enter online at www.roag.org
• Late entries on race day at a cost of R170 for 10 km and R150 for 5 km
• NO REFUND POLICY FOR THE WHOLE SERIES.
• When you enter you will receive your race number and a t-shirt (limited to the first 500 entries. Sizes on a first come, first served basis).
• If you are not there for the start of the race, you will not be permitted to start late; you will forfeit your entry.
• All participants must listen to the KZN traffic officials and the marshals.
• NO ALCOHOL is allowed on school property.
• No selling of any goods will be permitted on race day, other than by our vendors.
• There will be food and beverages for sale on race day.
• There will be three water tables at intervals along the race route.
• Please note NO medals will be awarded; you will receive a series wrist band and an aQuellé water when you cross the finish line.
• Medical support will be provided by ER 24
• Time of prize giving will be announced.
• There are cut off times for the 10 km run. These will be adhered to by the officials.
• If you do not reach the 5 km mark by 18h35 you will be taken off the course. You will still receive a wrist band and an aQuellé water.
• If you do not reach the main gate of Epworth School on Golf Road by 19h05, you will also be taken off the course.
• In the event of bad weather, the race might be postponed or cancelled by the safety officer. No refunds will be given.
• No runner is allowed on the route unless they have entered the race.
• Your race will only be timed if you have the timing chip provided; if it is lost your race will not be timed.
• There will be limited parking on the Epworth School fields. Access will be through the Seminary gate on Golf Road. This gate will be closed at 17h30 for the duration of the race. Alternate parking is available across the road at the UKZN sports center. All parking is it at your own risk.
• NO personal seconding on route
• NO vehicles
   NO bicycles
   NO trolleys
   NO carts
   NO pets on the route or in the finish venue
   Mothers pushing prams will be directed to the back of the start batches – no exceptions.
• 5 km distance - competitors are required to be 10 years or older on the day of the race but can be under 10 as long as they are accompanied by an entered adult / parent or responsible supervising adult.
• 10 km distance - competitors are required to be 12 years or older on the day of the race unless accompanied by an entered adult /parent or responsible supervising adult.
