Bike Transport & Services

Bike transfers by aeroplane from Mauritius to Rodrigues and back is included in the registration price.

- For obvious logistic reasons, bikes will not travel together with the riders and have to be dropped off either at Le Bike or On Track a few days before the race. The exact date will be communicated later. Riders will not be allowed to check-in at the airport with their bikes.

- To meet Air Mauritius Cargo requirements on ATR planes, bikes will have to travel in a custom-made box. No bike bags will be accepted.

- Riders that do not want third parties to handle their bikes should contact [email protected] for instructions and will still need to choose a drop off location when registering. No drop off at the airport.

- After the race, riders will be informed to come collect their bikes at the same drop off location.

Accommodation

- 3 nights included in the registration package (except for Rodrigues residents) on a room sharing basis at Tekoma Boutik Hotel (2 riders per room).

- You can contact [email protected] to indicate the name of the person you would like to be sharing a room with.

- You will receive a pre-check-in form closer to the day of departure.

- If you do not want to sleep at Tekoma, please inform by email at [email protected] (Note that the registration price will remain the same as Trimetys Hotels fully sponsors the rooms).

Food & Beverages

- The race is an all-inclusive event that will cover all drinks and meals for riders from Thursday 10th of June (evening) to Sunday 13th of June (lunch).

- For Rodrigues residents, registration includes all-inclusive F&B only during evenings (Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings) and Saturday lunch.

- Water & food will be available at checkpoints during the races.

- Supplements (bars, gels & electrolytes) will not be available, and each rider should make their provision.

- Food restrictions: please notify us at [email protected] of any allergy or restriction.

Emmargement

- Registration & race pack collection on Friday 11th June (08:00-10:00) at Tekoma Boutik Hotel.

- No last-minute entries available.

- You are invited to bring your ROAG number board or will be charged Rs 150 extra.

Programme

Thursday 10th of June:

- Departure from Mauritius to Rodrigues (flights in the afternoon).

- Transfer to Tekoma Boutik Hotel & room check-in.

- Opening cocktail & briefing.

Friday 11th of June:

- Breakfast from 07:00.

- Registration and race pack collection (08:00-10:00).

- Lunch.

- Stage 1 (start 15:30).

- Jersey giving for stage winners and dinner.

Saturday 12th of June:

- Breakfast from 06:00.

- Stage 2 (start 08:30).

- Lunch.

- Prize Giving ceremony & dinner from 19:00.

Sunday 13th of June:

- Breakfast is from 7:00.

- Packing & check-out.

- Return to Mauritius (flights throughout the day).

Flight Information

Plane tickets & transfers:

- Plane tickets from Mauritius to Rodrigues and back are included in the registration package.

- The race organizer is in charge of booking the plane tickets and will share the details with each rider at a later stage.

- Departure from Mauritius on the Thursday 10th afternoon and return to Mauritius on the Sunday 13th of June (exact time will be communicated later).

- Airport transfers in Rodrigues are included in the race package.

- Airport transfers in Mauritius are not included. Riders are responsible to be on time at the airport and carry all the necessary documents.

Medical

Medical assistance:

- Off-road motorcycles with medical staff will be present during the event and located in critical areas.

- Local health services & ambulances will be present during the event.

- A valid medical certificate is required to participate in this event.

- Riders should have proper medical insurance cover.

Supporters & Guests

- Supporters are welcome along the tracks and arrival at the hotel during races.

- Accommodation at Tekoma Boutik Hotel is reserved for riders only.

- Due to limited hosting capacities, only very few external guests will be allowed to join the riders at Tekoma during opening and jersey giving dinners (adults only & at an extra cost). Email [email protected] for information & bookings.

Insurance

Liability & Insurance: 

Each rider participating in the competition is responsible for taking out his/her health insurance and making sure that he/she is appropriately covered while participating in this sports competition. The organizer will not be held responsible for any incident that may occur during this event.

- Each rider needs to make sure that his/her bicycle has proper insurance coverage, including for transportation to, from, and during the event. The organizer, mechanics and transporter will not be held responsible for any damage, loss or theft that may occur.

- Each participant must carefully read, understand and accept the disclaimer when registering online to take part in this event and is therefore fully aware of the risks associated with their participation.

Race Information

- Exact distances and elevations will be communicated at a later stage, but Rodrigues offers a hilly landscape, and both races will include a lot of climbing. The race requires good physical condition and training.

Stage 1:

- Friday afternoon (15:30).

- Approximately 20km (5km loops around Tekoma Boutik Hotel).

- Refueling point will be at Tekoma.

Stage 2:

- Saturday morning (08:30).

- Between 40 & 60km.

- One refuelling point will be available half-way.

Mechanics

- Two mechanics stands will be available at Tekoma during the event (Le Bike & On Track).

- Mechanical services & assistance are not included in the race package and should be purchased directly with Le Bike or On Track.

- Packing & unpacking of your bike for transportation are included in the race package.

Documents required for registering to Rodrigues MTB Challenge:

- Copy of passport or ID Card (for plane ticket booking).

- Valid Medical Certificate (dated from 2021)
