This is the 10th year that Nando's is raising funds for Royal Life Saving Society of Mauritius with the main purpose: “To reduce drowning incidents in Mauritius by providing essential Life Saving services and teaching people to swim”.
The Royal Life Saving Society (Mauritius) - RLSS is a non-profit, volunteer community service organisation with a mission to promote aquatic safety and lifesaving. The RLSS is widely recognised as the authority on water safety and lifesaving in Mauritius.
The number of cases is on the increase though drowning could have been avoided in most cases. Behind each death caused by drowning there are more than one victim; members of the afflicted families keep suffering for years and years. As responsible citizens, we cannot remain insensitive to such unnecessary losses of life.
They also promote swimming as a sport and a healthy leisure activity in their efforts to inculcate safe and healthy habits to the population in the fight against drugs, alcoholism, smoking, idleness and the scourges that threaten Mauritius.
The RLSS generally depends on the support and generosity of their own members to help fund their various activities: they regularly do teaching and training sessions that are held at Mont Choisy every Sunday from 07 30 to 09 30 and sometimes they do have to run special training sessions or activities at Flic-en-Flac, Blue Bay, etc.
