OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT EVENT

You should get final race instructions and your batches via e-mail on Friday (if your e-mail address is up to date on your ROAG profile, but you can also see your batch on the ROAG website - see instructions below).

The following are the race instructions for the New Hanover MTB & Trail:

Dear Rider / Runner,

Thank you for entering the 2023 New Hanover MTB & Trail. New Hanover Preparatory School, FNB, the organising committee and ROAG look forward to welcoming you and hosting you for the day.

This e-mail contains some important information, so please read carefully to the end.

You are registered to take part in the New Hanover MTB & Trail race on Saturday, 6th May. Your batch and your start time will be e-mailed to you today (if your e-mail is up to date on the ROAG system). And you can also find it under "My Profile" on the ROAG.org website. If your batch is “NONE”, your race is probably not batched, but please confirm this at registration.

ROAG SERIES:

This event is the 4th of the 2023 Quattro ROAG KZN MTB Marathon Series. The 25km, 45km and 65km MTB races and the 7km and 14km trail running events count towards points in the series for the relevant age categories. Please see updated series rules at roag.org/series/37/public

REGISTRATION:

Registration will take place from 06h00 to 09h00 and will take place in the Sports Pavilion on the top field at New Hanover Preparatory School. Please ensure that you come through registration at LEAST an hour prior to the start of your race in order to avoid any last-minute rushes. There is a possibility of loadshedding scheduled for Saturday morning in the midst of registration, so while we have made provision for this and have a generator on standby, there may be a short period when we switch to backup power when registration will be disrupted. Please be patient and leave a bit of extra time for the registration process.

MEDICAL INFORMATION:

All entrants are asked to update their personal information on the ROAG.org website prior to the event. Should there be an emergency, the first point of access for the first responders is your medical and emergency information in your ROAG profile. Please ensure at the very least your medical information and your emergency contact information is up to date and accurate. You can update your information by using your ROAG number and password (or ID number as an alternative password) to log into your profile, and then make the changes under My Profile and My Info. Please ensure you Save Changes after updating.

TIMING:

The 7km and 14km trail run and the 25km, 45km and 65km MTB races will be timed with prizes being awarded in the age categories for the correct relevant distances. This event will be timed by Elite Timing. If you do not have a timing sticker AND barcode you can purchase a sticker at registration for R10 from the Elite Timing table. You can get a new barcode from the Elite Timing table for free. The 3km trail run and the 10km MTB are fun runs / rides and will not be officially timed.

NUMBER BOARDS:

The ROAG MTB Boards and ROAG Running Bibs will be used for this event. Please make sure that you bring your board / bib to the event and ensure a race sticker (you'll receive it at registration) and timing sticker is attached to your board. You will be able to purchase a new MTB Board for R50 and Running Bib for R20 at registration. Please note, the purchase of boards, bibs and timing stickers is strictly cash only or via Zapper. There are no credit card facilities for this.

LATE ENTRIES:

Late entries will be accepted at registration with a small late-entry penalty fee. So, if your friends or family want to join your and take part in one of the events they will be able to enter. Late entries are strictly via cash or credit card.

SPECTATORS:

Please note that spectators are permitted and we look forward to seeing and hearing them out there but the events take place on large tracts of private land and no spectator is allowed on any private land. Failure to comply with this literally places the future of the race in jeopardy.

WATER TABLES:

Water tables will be present on all routes but riders and runners are reminded that the onus is on you to ensure you have enough food and drinks to sustain you for the event.

DIRECTIONS:

GPS Co-Ordinates: -29.356237211419636, 30.557869067285687

A map with a link to directions can be found at https://roag.org/events/event-info/3998. Please allow at least 55 minutes travel time from Pietermaritzburg and 1 hour 40 minutes from Durban (via N3 / Pietermaritzburg) or 90 minutes from Ballito (via R614).

BIKE WASH:

There will be a bike wash available after the event at the finish area. This will be run by the school as part of a fundraising drive, so please support them and take a clean bike home.

CATERING:

The legendary food (which made the Tour de Krantz famous) will be available throughout the day, so we are confident you will enjoy supporting the food stalls as much as you will enjoy your ride / run. The food sales are part of the Church fundraising drive which includes the school and numerous other charities, so please support them by enjoying their spectacular fare.

Yours sincerely

The New Hanover MTB & Trail organising team
