80km Race
Starts and finishes on the main road, just outside La Petite France (same venue as the Karkloof Farmer’s Market).
Rider’s will start at the entrance to La Petite France and head towards Howick first (this is different to last year) – to turn at the Amber’s entrance, approximately 3.5km from the start. Having made a U-turn, riders then head back towards the starting point and continue on the road past the turn-off to the Karkloof Country Club, to the end of the tar road where there will be a second turn-point. Riders will then head back on the same road past Karkloof Country Club and then La Petite France, before making a U-turn at the Amber’s entrance for a second time before returning to the La Petite France start/finish point. This completes one lap of approximately 40km. The 80km route will complete a second lap (ie: rider’s doing the 80km will turn three times at the Ambers’ entrance) – to finish on the uphill heading towards Karkloof and at the La Petite France entrance where the race started. Once across the finish line, riders will be directed about 200m up the road and into the parking area, where your timing chip will be removed and you’ll receive your finish drink.
There will be a water table on the route – at the Karkloof Conservancy. The 40km riders will pass this point once (at about the 30km mark) and the 80km riders will pass it twice (at 30km & about 65km).
40km Fun Ride
As above but only one lap
