On 19 April 2026, I’ll be running the Ultimate Road Race by KFC — but this year, my race is about more than kilometres. It’s about restoring something Mauritius is losing far too quickly: our native forests, our rare species, and the natural heritage that makes this island unlike anywhere else on Earth.

Mauritius once had vast, thriving forests filled with ebony trees, endemic plants, and unique wildlife. Today, only small fragments remain. Without help, many of the species that depend on these forests will disappear forever.

That’s why I’m supporting Ebony Forest.

They’re doing the long-term work of bringing our forests back to life, planting rare endemic trees, restoring habitats, and giving endangered birds like the Echo Parakeet and Mauritius Kestrel safe places to nest again. 

Even one tree or one nest box can change the future of a species.

This race is my way of contributing to that future.

Every step I take is for:

• A Mauritius where our children can see the wildlife we talk about today
