Diabetes is a cause that feels especially important to me because it affects so many lives in Mauritius. Our country has one of the highest rates of diabetes in the world, with around 1 in 5 adults living with the condition. What concerns me even more is that diabetes is also affecting younger people and children, meaning that many have to face the challenges of this condition from an early age. Behind every statistic is a person, a family and a daily reality that we may not always see.
Running 15 km is a personal challenge, but it is a small one compared with what people living with diabetes have to face every single day. Through this run, I want to turn every kilometre into an opportunity to raise awareness and support Diabetes Safeguard's work in helping people affected by diabetes and promoting prevention. If my 15 km can contribute, even in a small way, to making someone's journey a little easier, then every step will be worth it. I hope you will join me in supporting this cause, because every contribution can make a difference.
